Downhill Forest

Very easy with a few steep sections (not counting the steps!) Great for families or beginners.

There are two way-marked paths in the forest, and a pond! One path is just over a km long while the other is two km in length. The Ulster Way also runs through part of the forest. Part of Downhill Forest is linked into the province-wide Sustrans cycling network (Route 93), running from the Mussenden Road down through mixed woodlands to Burrenmore Road.  Picnic tables are situated on the grass to allow visitors to picnic in the wide variety of trees.

How to get there

From Coleraine ~ Take the A2 through Articlave, Downhill Forest is on the left after approx. 1.5 miles

From Limavady ~ Take the A2 towards Castlerock, Downhill Forest is on the right approx. 3.5 miles after Benone.

  • Small but fun single track towards the end of the circuit. Apparently the forest is riddeled with single tracks bout you have to find them as the forestry likes destroying them. So g3et out their and have a look :):)
  • As described but some hidden gnarly short single tracks can be discovered close to one of the gates up through the trees. Deserves further investigation.
