Very scenic and technical, with a big climb at the start, this is a circa 5km XC loop, which has been used previously for NPS races.  It links up with the East Clare Way, which is also worth exploring.

Getting There

2km north of Killaloe/Ballina on the south western shores of Lough Derg, on the R463.  Park in the car park on the road-side.

  • Nice, was riding the trail back in 2003-2005 but didnt run the woods just went straight down the main path and clocked huge speeds. The climb up the back is great and always enjoyed the drop but watch out for walkers and dogs as one nearly had me over the edge! Great views and a good ride. Hope to get back up there soon and ride some trails into kilbane.
